Bijenkorf

Dam 1
Since the early twentieth century, the large department store the Bijenkorf has been part of the scenery of Dam Square. It is known, not only for its many international luxurious brands in fashion and cosmetics, but also for interior design (furniture and accessories), children's toys, kitchen supplies, food, books and much, much more. The Bijenkorf offers you six floors containing a surprising variety of products. Public transportation to Bijenkorf: trams 4, 9, 14, 16, 24 and 25 (stop Dam).

Magna Plaza

Shopping center Magna Plaza is located in the former Main Post Office of Amsterdam: a large, impressive building behind the Royal Palace on Dam Square. The buildings spacious hall, illuminated through the glass dome in the roof, is surrounded by several floors of luxurious fashion and lifestyle stores, selling a large number of famous brands. Public transportation to Magna Plaza: trams 1, 2, 5, 13 and 17 (stop Dam).

Kalverstraat and Nieuwendijk

On both sides of Dam Square, ranging from Central Station to Munt Square, you will find The Netherlands' most famous shopping streets: Nieuwendijk (Central Station - Dam square, parallel to Damrak) and Kalverstraat (Dam square - Munt square, parallel to Rokin). All sorts of stores, ranging from fashion and shoe stores to cosmetics, perfume, music, jewelry, drugstores and gift stores, can be found in these streets. Kalverstraat is intersected by Spui, where several large bookstores are located: Waterstones (British), Athenaeum (Dutch) and The American Book Center. On Kalverstraat near Dam square you will find Fame, a very large music store where you can buy CDs from genres varying from pop, rock and metal to classical and world music. On the other side of the Kalverstraat, near Munt Square, you will find the Amsterdam shopping center Kalvertoren (with several stores and outlets where you can buy coffee, ice cream or lunch, including a café on the top floor with a nice view over Amsterdam's historical center) and the department store Vroom & Dreesman that offers you several floors of products from fashion to living accessories. Public transportation to Central Station: a large number of trams and buses.
