What type of accommodation do I have?

Apartment


An apartment is a unit of accommodation with more than one room and its own kitchen and bathroom and it has its own separate entrance.

Houseboat


A houseboat is a floating home.

Studio

A studio is a unit of accommodation with only one room; the bedroom also serves as living room. It has its own kitchen and bathroom and its own separate entrance.

Room


By room is meant: a guestroom that is part of your own home. You may include with it a separate bathroom for your guests and/or their own kitchen. Sometimes however you will simply share your own bathroom and/or kitchen with the guests. Sometimes a room may have its own street entrance.
Rooms may be offered with or without breakfast.

Room on a boat


A room on a boat is a guestroom that forms part of the boat on which you live. You may include with it a separate bathroom for your guests and/or their own kitchen. Sometimes however you will simply share your own bathroom and/or kitchen with the guests. Sometimes a room may have its own street entrance.

Rooms may be offered with or without breakfast.

When you search the site for ‘room’ or ‘houseboat’, ‘room on a boat’ will appear in the result for both searches.

Studio on a boat


A unit of accommodation is called a studio on a boat when it is a section of a boat, has its own separate entrance, its own bathroom and kitchen and one room that is furnished as both living room and bedroom.

When you search the site for ‘studio’ or ‘houseboat’, ‘studio on a boat’ will appear in the result for both searches.

How will my accommodation be displayed?

Each accommodation offered has its own separate page of readily accessible information. The page is displayed in four languages: English, German, French and Dutch. To add to it yourself go to here.

The information on the page includes:

Address and location number


The page provides the street name (not the house number) of the accommodation, together with a unique location number.
Guests are given the full address only after they have booked.

Text


The page gives a roughly 250-word description of the accommodation and its surroundings.

Photographs


Photographs of the accommodation and its surroundings are displayed. The photographs can be examined in an overview or separately in large format.

Facilities


Small icons enable the most important facilities of an accommodation to be examined in the blink of an eye.
Also displayed is whether guests may smoke or not.

Prices


The price will be displayed as soon as date of arrival, date of departure and number of guests has been filled in.
Until the information is completed a ‘from price’ will be displayed, which is the lowest price per night for which this accommodation is available.

You are free to set prices on your personal page and to increase or reduce them, as well as to set prices for particular dates. See explanation on your personal page. When you make no adjustments our recommended prices will be displayed.

Agenda


The agenda shows which days are available and which are occupied.

Map


A Google map is displayed with a flag at the accommodation offered.

YouTube Video


The video, which lasts one minute, provides an impression of the house and its surroundings.You can upload your own video, or ask CityMundo to make a video.

Can I indicate whether my accommodation is smoking or non-smoking?

Yes, that is possible. If you indicate that smoking is permitted, the accommodation will no longer appear when people filter for non-smoking and conversely.

If you want people to refrain from smoking indoors but to allow them to do so on a balcony for example, you can indicate this in the text.

How are prices calculated and payments made?

How much may I charge for my accommodation?


When you have filled in all the information, a price recommendation will appear. You do not have to adhere to this price, but we believe it to be the price that will allow you to let the accommodation successfully. You can also adjust the price later. That new price will then apply for reservations made after the price adjustment.

How is the price per night determined?


The price per night will depend on:

a –the number of persons:
Whether guests come alone or with two persons has no effect on the price.
For three persons the price per night will be higher but the price per person will be lower than for two persons.
For four persons the price per night will be even higher but the price per person will be lower that for three persons.
b – the location of the accommodation and its level of comfort.
c – the length of the period reserved:
For longer reservations the price will be lower.

Cleaning and tourist tax are included in the price.

Does the number of persons influence the price?


Yes, the more people there are the higher the price per night will be.
Whether a guest come alone or with two persons makes for the price no difference.
For three persons the price per night will be higher but the price per person will be lower than for two persons.
For four persons the price per night will be even higher but the price per person will be lower that for three persons.

Does CityMundo have a special price for children?


CityMundo has a reduced price for children from two to four years old.

For children of five and older the adult price applies and children younger than two are welcome free of charge.

You can indicate whether you want to receive children or not.

Can I add special prices for special periods?


Yes, you can add special prices at your personal page.

Can I charge extra for cleaning?


Cleaning costs are not charged separately, they are included in the price.

Can I charge tourist tax separately?


The tourist tax is not charged separately, it is included in the price.

What is the host fee?


The host fee is a payment that CityMundo retains from the price per night. The price per night is the price for which you offer your accommodation.

Guests pay on arrival the amount due. This is the price per night X the number of nights, less the host fee (that latter has already been retained from the deposit paid upon making the reservation). In some cases there may be within one reservation various prices per night (for example when there are national holidays for which a higher price has been set during the period reserved)>

CityMundo has a very advantageous host fee of 7.5 to 9%. The longer the reservation the lower the fee charged.
All prices are rounded off in Euros.

The guests also pay a fee that is added to the price per night.

How and when will I be paid?


You will be paid as soon as your guests arrive. They will pay you in cash.

When a reservation is made you will receive an e-mail with details of the guests and the amount that they are due to pay.

The guests will have the cash with them. There is therefore no payment traffic between CityMundo and you.
Guests will sometimes want to transfer payment to your account before arrival. When this is the case CityMundo will contact you first to ask you whether you object to that.

Where are the payment statements?


They are on your personal page. They are the amounts from which CM’s fee has already been deducted.
The payment statements can be seen and printed each year.

Do I have to pay tax on income from letting accommodation?


The best answer to this question is available from the tax authorities or from your tax advisor. You will in all cases have to pay tourist tax. The Municipality of Amsterdam can provide you with information on tourist tax.

When will my accommodation be placed online?

As soon as you have entered all the information, completed the agenda and uploaded the photographs. After you have clicked ‘accept’ for the general terms and conditions and for the contract that you are concluding with CityMundo, your accommodation will be placed online.

If after that you want to change settings or update the agenda, you can do so at all times via your personal page.

If you want us to enter the accommodation for you (we will do this free of charge), we will make an appointment for a photo/film shoot. We will then enter all the details for you and place the accommodation online. Generally this can be done on the same day.

Even when you make the entries on your webpage we can still arrange the photographs and videos, and also for text and translations. If you need this service please contact us.

How do I manage my accommodation via the website?

How does the agenda work?

What can I see in the agenda?


The agenda displays reservations made, restrictions and free days.

When you click any reservation you will see all the information about that reservation, such as contact details of the guest, what he/she has to pay you upon arrival and time of arrival.

-You can see when a particular price per night applies.

The agenda may have an end date, or be open without limit (when no end date is specified, the agenda will be open up to one year from the present date. The agenda will then advance one day per day). You will find this information at the top left of the agenda.
When the agenda has an end date this means that no bookings may be placed after that end date and no days opened.
If you want to extend or cancel the end date you can adjust this on your personal page.

How far in advance can bookings be made?

When there is no end on the agenda the agenda will remain open until one year from the present date. The agenda will then advance one day per day.

How do I process availability on my agenda?


You can close and open nights.

It is certainly the case that CityMundo Works only with ‘immediate booking’. This means that when the agenda is open at CityMundo, the booking can be made immediately without our having to ask prior permission. This streamlines the booking process and results therefore in more reservations.

We offer the possibility of synchronising the agenda with other agendas.

How will I know if I have really closed nights on my agenda?


When you close the agenda a blue bar will appear in the nights that you have closed. When you reopen them the blue bar will disappear. You will also receive automatically an e-mail when you close or open the agenda. When you do not receive an e-mail this means that the operation was unsuccessful.

How do I block my agenda entirely?


You can do this on your personal page, or by sending an e-mail to CityMundo, giving them the date from which you want to close the agenda completely. Bookings that have already placed after that date will go through as planned.

How do I synchronize my agenda with other agendas?

You can synchronize your agenda with an external agenda like Google calendar or Apple agenda. You will find an explanation on your personal page.

How can I promote my accommodation page?

It’s worth referring to your announcement on other sites with a link to your accommodation page, and even better is to give the link the same text as your page at CityMundo, such as ‘attractive room near Vondel Park’ because this will make it easy for Google and other search engines to find your accommodation, which in turn will lead to more reservations! The more links to your page, the better!

May I offer several accommodations?

Yes, you may. Each accommodation will be given its own page and unique location number.
